Dance is a great way to add a little fun to something dreary and dull, like washing your windows. You probably shouldn’t go on a full routine, but adding a few dance moves here and there can make the chore a little more amusing.
I’ve done this more than once. In fact, I used to clean windows for a living before I discovered I could do the same with dance. I learned a thing or two about how to bust out the moves without failing to clean a pane of glass.
Now, the first thing I learned is to keep the music to myself.
Sure, this probably offends more than a few dedicated dancers out there. But you have to understand that just because you want the music, doesn’t mean anyone else does. Best keep it to yourself while you’re doing a job.
Of course, you don’t always need to have music. Some folks have a knack for finding the right rhythm in their heads, without a beat to guide them.
Another thing to remember is that you’re still doing a job, even if you dance.
I can’t even begin to count how many times I got into trouble because I lost myself in the groove. The windows remained unwashed. Yeah, you don’t want to do that.
After a bit, I figured out how to blend dance with window cleaning. I learned how to incorporate scrubbing and wiping with the footwork. A little flourish here and there, and it felt like I was on stage with an audience of nobody, but it was great for just enjoying myself.
You’ll want to either watch the fancier footwork or keep the area clear of anything that might spill.
It’s a hassle to have to mop up because you accidentally kicked a bucket while dancing. Personally, I like to make sure the area is clear, and I have room to move. This has the bonus of making sure there’s no furniture around that might be damaged by your cleaning agents.
Cords are going to be a headache! Don’t spin! This one time, I got tangled up in some cords as I was dancing, and had a heck of a time trying to get out of them. Lesson learned: make sure anything like wires and cords aren’t in the way when I start moving.
Of course, if you don’t want to clean windows, you could just call a professional. I suggest you see more here.
